Cannot backup AppStack with Backup App Volumes Utility

Hello,

We are trying to move some AppStacks to another AppVolumes Manager using Backup App Volumes Utility.

These are the specs of the computer having the utility tool :

  • Windows 7
  • PowerCLI 6.5 R1
  • PowerShell 5.1
  • VMware Remote Console Plug-In 10.0.2
  • .NET Framework 4.5
  • Windows Management Framework 5.1
  • Backup App Volumes Utility v2.0

We follow these steps : VMware App Volumes Backup Utility Fling: Instructions | VMware End-User Computing Blog

Everything works fine up to "Attach Selected AppStacks to VM Backup". Everything seems fine except that the backup is never done. No error message. Do you know where we could have logs or have you ever had this problem?

Thanks

Just out of curiosity. Are you trying to back-up the appstacks or or move them from test to production or soemthing similar like that.

If you are trying to do the last just copy the files from the test datastore to the production datastore using either some sort of client to attach to the datastores or the VCenter datastore browser.

After copying the files just start an import from the appvolumes manager you copied the files to and they should import automagically.

We do this all the time, copying appstacks from production to test so I only need to create an appstack once Smiley Happy.

Have you tried using 'Storage Groups' in App Volumes Manger for replicating AppStacks?
