AppVolume licensing

The licensing page in the appvolumes GUI (see attached screenshot I took from the HOL) displays/suggests a lot of different options.

* Number of licenses Users

* Number of licensed Terminal users

* Number of licensed Desktops

* Number of licensed Servers

* Max attachment per user

* Writable Volumes enabled or not

* License Mode: professional (suggest there is more then 1 license mode)

* Attach user volumes: To desktops and servers, to desktops only, ...

* Options: show server log, Allow fast cloning (I only saw this option in the HOL system, not on my evaluation license I obtained from VMware)

I did however never hear or read about different licensing options for appvolumes.

Can anyone shed some light on this please?

The options are there to be able to control different aspects of how the Manager is used. It allows for a tight granular control As part of the VMware acquisition licensing will be moved in line all other VMware products. That process will happen over time and these options will be merged into that framework. Today they are used to control eval, testing and production licenses.
