App stack registry key

Long time reader first time poster.

Creating an appstack, and I want to add a reg key but when I complete the stake it doesn't save the key I added.

Location of the key I would like to add

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies

Can this be done or should I use UEM ?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

This location is excluded (by default) in the snapvol.cfg file.

You would need to remove this exclusion (probably not advised) or apply the key another way.

Regards,

Horizon Client 5.4.3 Appvol Manager 2.18 Appvol Client 2.18.6 UEM 9.10

Just as a sidenote. Back in the days this line was not added to the snapvol.cfg and what we saw is that when you changed a policy setting in the Windows GPO it was not published to the machine because the writable already had a setting in it for policies. We needed to remove the writable, recreate it and the policy would be effective.

I would highly suggest not removing these lines. Eventually you will be screwed over by GPO's if you use them

I'd see if the registry key has a corresponding gpo, even if you don't have the GPO, you can import the admx files into UEM and manage it that way.

You need to add the appstack to a basic machine that has no Appvolumes Agent installed and then edit the snapvol.cfg file. All exclusions are within this file but be aware, handle with care and only change these kinds of settings if you know what you are doing!!
