App Volume and SQL Server Management Studio

Has anyone been able to create a successful app volume out of SSMS 2014?

Mine seems to create and provision correctly but when run on the client machine i get the error "Invalid license - reinstall required"

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Amir,

Are you using a clean VM for provisioning? If then, please use a clone of the base/master image for capturing (same level as deployment OS). This might help to overcome the license issue when assigning the AppStack.

Worked like a charm. Thanks!

Hi,

how did you solve this? Have the same problem. Both with  Server Management Studio 2014 and  Server Management Studio 2016 version

Kind Regards

All,

We have just created a AppStack with the following applications.

  • SQL Server Management Studio 2014
  • Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate

We followed the suggestion above to provision on our master image.

At first we had failures to install these applications. But we found that some how a GPO policy was being applied to the Master image OU that was causing the failures, so we blocked inheritance to that OU and was able to successfully install both applications and run from our UAT and Prod Horizon pools.
