The vSphere Fast Track is an intense experience - it's a combination of roughly four courses:

1. Install, Configure, Manage (4 days when done separately)

2. Manage Scalability (1 day when done separately)

3. Manage Availability (1 day when done separately)

4. Scripting and Automation (yet to be announced as a separate course, I would say there's 1 day's worth in the Fast Track)

It goes in-depth on lots of the many features of vSphere, although it doesn't cover everything in-depth - there's not time even though it's as intense as it is!

I wouldn't necessarily say that the Fast Track is right for the seasoned pro - the ICM content makes up 60-70%, and ICM can be taken by newbies to VMware products.

When done separately, the individual courses (2,3 and 4 above) as well as a Troubleshooting course still to come, are aimed at those that are already at VCP4 level, ICM is a pre-req for those.

If you're already VCP level on VI3, there's always the What's New course....

Scott.

-

Blog: http://vmwaretraining.blogspot.com

Web: http://www.thinkvirtually.co.uk

Twitter: and

Has anyone taken the VMware vSphere: Fast Track V4 course? According to the Course datasheet, the course scope is five extended days of instructor-led classroom training, plus six self-paced eLearning courses and I'm wondering what topics these six self-paced eLearning courses cover.

Thanks

________________________________

Jason D.

The eLearnings are labs that there isn't time to do in class, they're simluated labs. The 4 regular simulations are on ESXi installation, Converter cold-cloning, EVC, Guided Consolidation. There is also one on FT in case the kit used on the course doesn't support FT. I've no idea why it says there are 6! The 4 regular simulations are also part of the Install, Configure, Manage course, and the FT simulation is part of What's New.

Scott.

-

Blog: http://vmwaretraining.blogspot.com

Web: http://www.thinkvirtually.co.uk

Twitter: and

Someone who is already VCP certified doesn't want to spend any time learning how to create VM's and it's much easier to get management to swing for an intense 5 day course then 2 or 3 individual ones.

________________________________

Jason D.
