If you work for a VMware partner there are some sales directed certification that have no cost - VMware Sales Professions and VMware Technical Sales Professional that are available -

If you do not work for a partner the closest certification that is free is the new VMware Certified Associate which has no course requirement and VMware provides free online training for the certification - but there will still be a cost for the exam - you can find out more information here - http://standout.vcavmware.com/

There's a 50% discount code on my blog for the VCA exams if this is a certification you are interested in. It expires on January 31st but if you are working with vSphere on a daily basis you should have no problem getting at least one of these passed in the next 10 days.
