I need to provide a certication plan to my boss. Can someonw give my an idea of the amount of hours required to prepare for the VCTA exam?

Really depends on your level of experience. And which path: Data Center? End-User Computing? Network Virtualization? Cloud? One of the others?

Depends what you know and how you intend to prepare, I assume below that you mean VCTA-DCV.

The recommended training is a 4-day course, and you should also digest content from other references, as per the exam guide.
