Hi,

Thanks!

I got past the uninstall hang... but when trying to install the update bundle I got an error saying that the player was not 17.0.0 and it failed. Luckily I was able to fall back via a Snapshot. This is more difficult than it needs to be.

On both my OpenSUSE Tumbleweed laptops, ive got Workstation Pro 17.0 installed running fine.

Upgrading to 17.0.1 or 17.0.2 doesnt work rough since the upgrade CLI stucks on "Deconfiguring".

Forced closed the terminal after 2 hours. Vmware Player is available on the systems, but not Workstation Pro.

running the installer bundle again says vmware-workstation is still uninstalled, manually uninstalling with --uninstall-component=vmware-workstation doesnt help neither.

How can I purge the previous, borked installation and install fresh?

This is reproducable on two laptops, different vendors (but same OpenSUSE snapshot).

EDIT:

As usual, youll stumble upon the solution just as you post..

Ended up running VMware....bundle -u vmware-workstation -I, which did a proper uninstall,

then downloaded the 17.0.2-bundle from https://customerconnect.vmware.com/en/downloads and could install normally.
