Can not start ubuntu vm on my new PC

Host PC: Dell Latitute 5420, newly installed PC in Company VPN

Host OS: Windows 10 Enterprise

Guest OS: Ubuntu

Problem: I can not start the VM due to the following error.

2022-08-08T13:52:06.179+10:00| vcpu-0| I005+ A fault has occurred causing a virtual CPU to enter the shutdown state. If this fault had occurred outside of a virtual machine, it would have caused the physical machine to restart. The shutdown state can be reached by incorrectly configuring the virtual machine, a bug in the guest operating system, or a problem in VMware Workstation.

The log is attached.

You are using version 16.0.0 with an 11th gen Intel CPU with Hyper-V on the Windows 10 host. Monitor mode would show CPL0 if Hyper-V is not detected on the Windows host.

Update the Workstation software to 16.2.3 or 16.2.4. If I am not mistaken there was a crashing problem with newer CPUs when Hyper-V is detected on the host.

Or you could remove Hyper-V from the host, but that is another long-winded topic altogether.

One more thing, it looks like the VM is stored in OneDrive.

For the sake of the data and your sanity, avoid running VMs off from OneDrive or any cloud storage that synchronises with local machine storage. Doing so eventually causes corruption and/or loss of the virtual disk file(s) (*.vmdk).

Thank you very much! This problem is solved by upgrading workstation from 16.0.0 to 16.2.4.
