When you say VMware, which specific product do you mean?

Sounds like Workstation Pro or Workstation Player.

I used VMware to host Windows XP Professional to play games that don't work on the host PC. It starts up fine, with no sound or video issues. It only has a problem when it comes to moving my cursor. I play something in Windows Media Player and it runs smoothly as long as I don't move it. When I do, the sound cuts off with the movement and the visual lags. It does this with everything I've tried. Games, videos, the system sounds. I don't know what's causing the issue. I'm not good with computers, just enough to follow instructions when I want something done. I didn't find anything on this particular problem, so I would really appreciate some assistance.
