DNS resolution not working

Hi,

Today I started my VM (Ubuntu) running on VMWare Player and for some reason it is not resolving DNS queries.

For example if I try: dig cnn.com it will return connection timed out.

but if I try dig @192.168.1.xxx cnn.com it works fine (the .xxx is my router IP address).

also ping to 8.8.8.8 works fine, which indicates that NAT is working fine.

Any ideas what can be wrong? Yesterday this was fine

Did you already check the DNS server that's configured within the guest OS (Ubuntu)?
