Horizon 7.1 and Teradici Zero Client Firmware Compatibility

Hi there,

we're planning upgrade our environment from 6.2.X to 7.1.0 - currently we are running a lot of Teradici Zero Clients running on Firmware 4.8.0.

According to Teradici's KB Zero Client Compatibility with VMware Horizon View (15134-2593) we see, that Firmware 4.8.0 ist only tested and supported till version Horizon 7.0.

Has anyone more ore actual informations on this?

We got some issues with Ver 4.7.3 & Horizon View TLS1.0 for legacy Zero Clients, but we found a way around by running a script to change some settings in the master VM registry. So far so good!

Raul can you post what you did to make this work as we are also in the same situation. We would like to move to 7.1 due to the recent security patch but can't afford to replace 500+ tera1's just to do so. Also it should be worth noting our issue with usb devices pulling over (outside of keyboard and mouse) like scanners, speech mics, etc. Does your fix address these issues?

In my case upgrading to VMware Horizon View 7 cause connections to throw a TLS error on the Zero Client when users tried to connect. It was a simple fix by running a script "TLS_1.0_Regedit.reg" to mortify the Master image registry & also Disabling "PCoIP Secure Gateway" in the Horizon 7 Administrator, then recomposing the pools.

1. Disable "PCoIP Secure Gateway" in the Horizon 7 Administrator

View Configuration > Servers > Connection Servers > Connection Server > Edit > Uncheck "PCoIP Secure Gateway"

2. Copy & Paste the following to a text file & save it with the ext .reg > It's really quite simple, you just need to change the .txt extension to TLS_1.0_Regedit.reg

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

; Horizon View TLS1.0 for legacy Zero Clients

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Teradici\PCoIP\pcoip_admin]

"pcoip.ssl_protocol"="TLS1.0:TLS1.1:TLS1.2"

NOTE:

This solution may or may not work for you, sometimes it depend on the Zero Client type & PCoIP .Ver you might have.

The new Zero & Thin clients VDI / DaaS didn't have this problem.
