Thanks guys. No way to get file associations to work? (e.g. I want to be able to double click on a .txt file in the VDI session and for it to open in a published version of Notepad.... file will be on a UNC path so no need for local drive access)

Hi,

I have question around Horizon 6 published apps. I have a Windows 7 VDI non-persistent linked clone pool. I also have an RDSH server setup and a few test applications published. I can open the View client, log in, and see all my published apps and desktop pools no problem, everything working nicely.

My question is, when I log in to my Windows 7 VDI session, how do I access the apps I have published through Horizon?

Thanks

Chris

You need to also install the Horizon View client within the virtual desktop.

Thanks for the reply, I did think of that however I had it in my head that in previous versions that wasn't supported.

Is there a way to auto publish icons to start menu and set up file associations to launch the apps (basically trying to replace current Citrix PNAgent setup)?

You can create shortcuts based on the shortcut's UNC path vmware-view://

from the apps, but there is nothing automatic currently.

Basically grab that shortcut path from each app and use another tool to

create the shortcuts/icons for users.

we did not use to support running the View client ( Nested ). We made some change in 5.3 and started supporting that, with full support in 6.0. Shortcuts can be created though login scripts or GPO's right now. We will also add a way to the pooling in the future to facilitate this as well.

WP
