3D Acceleration / Metal Support for Big Sur VM

Hi, I tried the instruction in https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/81657 but was not able to get metal support to work in a Big Sur VM running on Big Sur host machine with Intel CPU. It either freezes or crashes when I re-launched the VM after editing the VMX file. Any ideas?

For me its booting again with VMtools 11.3.5 (with 11.6 guests and 11.6 host) which is a manual download and install. I see though that if I launch apps the guest black screens and other weird things happen from time to time so here's to hoping it works better in the next version of Fusion and Monterey? Nice to see apps like Pages working in a guest though after all these years.

I'm not sure why it just doesn't work on VMware, for my Big Sur VM needs I switched to Anka since the Apple virtual GPU seems to work on that no problem.

Keep in mind that it's all experimental support at the moment....

Anka - you are on a MacBook then?!? I explored Anka today for my iMac Pro and I would see ROI in the first year by buying a MacBook instead.
