Dear Community,

after trying to solve this issue with G**gle without success, I hope to get hints solving an issue of my colleague.

The issue:

Since my colleague updated/upgraded to VMware Fusion 11.5.6 on PowerBook Pro with MacOS Catalina the previous working process to access Datev Unternehmen Online via Datev mIdentity Compact (which is a Kobil Smart Token) has been broken.

While in working configuration my colleague had to "share" two devices to the virtual guest "Windows 10 (Pro)".
Currently there is only one device "Shared Kobil Smart Token" he can share to the guest. Without the second device there is a read/write error in Datev Sicherheitspaket. As he told me, there had been a "Shared Volume..." to share to the guest.

I currently suspect that VMware does not provide the device in correct manner it did before. Is there possibility to avoid a full uninstall?

I would like to avoid currently due to amount of work.

I've found an hint in the release notes regarding usb storage.
[https://docs.vmware.com/de/VMware-Fusion/11.5.0/rn/VMware-Fusion-1156-Release-Notes.html]:

<quote>
"Some USB mass storage devices can't be accessed in a virtual machine

After you select the checkbox next to a USB mass storage device in USB & Bluetooth Settings to connect it to a running virtual machine, the virtual machine is unable to access the mass storage device.

This issue is now resolved."
</quote>

Is there any .conf parameter in Fusion to exclude specific devices from this fix.

Is there any possibility to return/downdate to 11.5.5 without reinstalling VMware Fusion 11.5.6/.7 completely?

In terminal I've listed the USB devices:
+-o AppleUSBXHCI Root Hub Simulation@14000000 <class AppleUSBRootHubDevice, $
+-o USB2.0 Hub @14300000 <class AppleUSBDevice, id 0x100000a99$
+-o USB 2.0 Hub@14310000 <class AppleUSBDevice, id 0x100000ad2, register$
| +-o USB 2.0 BILLBOARD @14314000 <class AppleUSBDevice, id $
+-o Smart Token@14330000 <class AppleUSBDevice, id 0x100000adc, register$

EDIT:
Meanwhile version 11.5.7 is available, but handles the token as in 11.5.6.

Thanks in advance for helpful hints.

Markus

Short overview of system data:
MacOS Catalina V?
VMware Fusion v11.5.6
Windows 10 (latest update/version due to automatic updates)
Datev Sicherheitspaket 6.8.101.20261
Datev mIdentity Compact [Vendor:0d46|Dev:3014| Kobil Systems GmbH Smart Token] (via lsusb in Linux

Used links while trying to solve:
https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2146766
https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Horizon-Client-for-Mac/5.4/horizon-client-mac-installation/GUID-E18D851B-8368-4BE0-94C4-92E710464CAD.html
https://confluence.certgate.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=82579759#HowtodebugCryptoTokenKitorsmartcardrelatedproblemswithmacOS10.14+-USBSMARTCARDREADERDRIVERS
https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Fusion/11/com.vmware.fusion.using.doc/GUID-1B8DDC8A-7372-48A3-9E29-4F93FC6A0F24.html
https://apps.datev.de/dnlexka/document/1043864
