I use option:

OptionalAppLinks=Plugins\*.*

So I want make any thinpackage linkable after being placed in Plugins folder.

But since 4.6.1 version any other files (entry points, readme's...) makes main package stop with error, which says that some files are't applink plugins.

Is it a problem to allow users to place some files beside plugin files?

You are correct. It's not supported to have anything but Data Containers in the AppLink folder.

or you could build all your applink plugins as *.dat and then use OptionalAppLinks=Plugins\*.dat. That way you have more chance of not including other file types.
