      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;Hi&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I have a question about vcenter server installation 5.1 update1&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If i want to install sperate DB on vm1 and the sso , inventory, vcenter server on vm2, Do i need domain controller on vm3 and vm1 and vm2 wiil&amp;nbsp; be in domain or&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;i can set for exmple the vm1with DB,also as domain controller or the vm2 with(sso,inventory,vcenter server) can be the domain controller?Or&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;can i have just to vm's one&amp;nbsp; DB and the second will have (sso inventory,vcenter server) without domain conroller at all!!! &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thx&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;It is not mandatory to have domain controller for vCenter server installation. You can go for first option or last option. Second option is not much clear to me. I usually go for 3rd option almost 60-70% time.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;I would go with option 2 personally. I don't like to put anything on my domain controllers. In my eyes DC's are DC's and shouldn't be doing anything else. Others may disagree. Just my 2 cents.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;Here are a few snips from the vCenter documentation website. &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;While it is correct that AD is not a requirement for Virtual Center, you will lose some features by running in workgroup mode.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;span class="lia-inline-image-display-wrapper" image-alt="Capture1.PNG"&gt;&lt;img src="https://communities.vmware.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/54843i963FC51A5EC33964/image-size/large?v=v2&amp;amp;px=999" role="button" title="Capture1.PNG" alt="Capture1.PNG" /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;vCenter server cannot be installed on the same server that has AD services.&amp;nbsp; When running the vCenter installer you will get an error.&amp;nbsp; This eliminates your first option.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;span class="lia-inline-image-display-wrapper" image-alt="Capture2.PNG"&gt;&lt;img src="https://communities.vmware.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/54844iDFF38E9C44EBE67C/image-size/large?v=v2&amp;amp;px=999" role="button" title="Capture2.PNG" alt="Capture2.PNG" /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
