Hello guys,

when I check VMs on a Host for updates - VMware Tools & Hardware Compatibility - I often see an "unknown" status on some VMs.
I tested around a bit and noticed that this error occurs more often when the guest OS does not match the actual OS of the VM.

For example - Guest OS Version is Debian GNU/Linux 10 and installed is Debian 11.

However, this does not always help. As soon as I try to check the status, I get the following error: "The operation is not supported on the object."

Does anyone have a similar problem or an idea how I can prevent this.
I will be grateful for any advice. Thanks in advance

Timo

// Host and VM

Hypervisor: VMware ESXi, 7.0.3, 20842708
Model: ProLiant DL360 Gen9

Guest OS: Debian GNU/Linux 11 (64-bit)
Compatibility: ESXi 7.0 U2 and later (VM version 19)
VMware Tools: Running, version:11333 (Guest Managed)
