We're implementing a new cluster of 4 esxi 6.7 hosts with two 10Gb NIC.

Since the plan to configure NSX we're deployng distributed virtual switch and associate both the NIC to it.

The question is about the vcenter appliance that will be connected to a dpg on the dVS.

Can this cause any issue or trouble, for example during a complete shutdown and restart of the entire data center ?

thanks

You need to have an ephemeral port group available for vcenter, but you don't need vcenter to stick on it, its more for a recovery if the whole environment is down. outside of that there is nothing different

So you suggest to create a dpg with ephemeral ports but not connecting the vcenter to ?

Reading the KB I thought it would be a best practice to do it

Thanks for the useful KB

@sjesse

hello

from the KB you provided I see, and you also said it, that the ephemeral port group should be used only for recovery purpose when all the datacenter was down, and so the vcenter.

What would be the recovery procedure in that case to have the vcenter attached to the ephemeral port group ?

Would We see that portgorup available from the Host's web console and be able to change the vm setting of the vcenter ?

thanks
