Good question. The 1.1 framework now works inside a VM (check the new features, section 6) so you can most likely get it to work under workstation. However as the release notes say, no FC support in a VM, its local, NAS and iSCSI only. But if its for demo purpose that might be okay for you.

Let us know how you get on.

Considering awarding points if this is of use

Message was edited by: Rodos

Referenced the release notes and not the new features which has the details on running proxy in a VM. Opps.

Hi,

You should create a setup having an ESX node, an iSCSI target appliance, and the latest VCB version. You should be able to perform a VCB-over-the-network backup.

For more fun, you could add a second ESX host and a virtualcenter VM, which would create a very complete demo setup.

And make sure the CPU in the workstation machine has VT (or the AM equivalent) capabilities or you'll be waiting for ages (which would not make a very good demo )
