First of all dont present the LUN on ESX server, if its already added to the ESX server then remove it and unformat SAN LUNs. If the SAN LUN is added on ESX server and formated as datastore it cannot be mapped on the VM as RDM

Now on the VM go to edit settings and select new Hard disk and add the SAN LUN as RDM.

If you found this information useful, please consider awarding points for "Correct" or "Helpful".

If you can't see the LUN as RDM... 1: the LUN was added as a datastore, or 2: the LUN is being used by another SO that are reserving it (maybe a VM or a physical machine).

Marcelo Soares

VMWare Certified Professional 310

Technical Support Engineer

Linux Server Senior Administrator
