root password

HI,

new installation of EXSI 6.70 on HPE DL360 G10. During installation, the root password setup does not pop up.

So that the root password was not setup. I try reinstalltion the EXSI, it still does not pop up.

I wonder how to setup the root password. Does VM build in default root password in the OS?

Did you use the HPE or VMware ISO? What happend of you try a different version? A lots or unknown Password can be solved by using a gparted ISO. But it tooks the same time as re-installing a unconfigured ESXi.

About versions.... 6.7 runs out of support last october. The G10 should be certified to run vSphere 7 so you should this one.

Maybe I'm wrong, by chance for the installation of your system you used the so-called "Intelligent Provisioning", in this case that has already been discussed on this forum (and other) the installation process sets a default password as written here: https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=a00112754en_us&page=s_config-os-setting.html in particular: The default password for EXSi 6.x and 7.x is _Passw0rd_

If I'm not mistaken, consult the HCL to be sure, the DL360G10 system should be supported up to ESXi 8.0U1.

Glad to have been helpful.

I honestly admit to being a bit ignorant about it, but I've never understood what is the concrete utility of installing some version of ESXi using that "Intellingent Provisioning tool", at least on small numbers.
