topic Vrops with infra move to new vcenter in VMware Aria Operations Discussions

Hello, My current infrastructure have vROPs and vSphere 6.7. I'm in the mist of upgrading the infrastructure to vsphere 7. The plan is to deploy new vCenter 7 instead of upgrading existing ones.

The current vROPs are configured with dashboards, VM tagging and etc. If the ESXi hosts are moved to the new vCenter would those configuration still remains?

The dashboard will remain in vROps, that's not the issue. What will be an issue is that the new vCenter will report those moved ESXi hosts to vROps and vROps will see them as new objects (even though the name remains the same). If you have dashboards which are hard pointed on the ESXi hosts, those dashboards will stop showing metrics. In that case you will need to repoint those dashboards to the new ESXi hosts coming from the new vCenter.

You would need to add the new vCenter as a cloud account on the vROPS.

Once the new vCenter inventory is listed, you can use those objects and their metrics in reports or dashboards.

But once you move the ESXI from old VC to new VC, definitely for that period dashboards will be effected.

Regards

Harpreet

To add vCenter we need to logon to the vROps web client and go to Administration > Cloud Accoutns > Add Account

https://thesleepyadmins.com/2021/02/13/install-and-configure-vrealize-operations-manager-8-2-part-2-connect-to-vcenter/

Once vcenter is added you can verify the dashboard and in case of any issue please edit the dashboard and see if it uses the view then go back to view and make necessary modifications then your dashboard Will be OK.

https://docs.vmware.com/en/vRealize-Operations/8.6/com.vmware.vcom.core.doc/GUID-9E1D2582-50E3-4107-891D-1C4709951BAA.html

was i helpful Give kudos for the appreciation!

Blog: https://www.vrealizeworld.net/
