Hi

No need to stop the replications before you shut down the protection VR appliance. When you stop the protection VR appliance the existing replications continue transferring data to the target site unless you also shutdown the corresponding ESX hosts. You will not be able to re-configure/configure new VMs for replication

When protected SRM server is shutdown, you will not be able to (re)configure Protection groups and Recovery plans. You still will be able to trigger recovery from the SRM recovery site.

Hope this helps

Ivan
