How Many (And Which) VMs Did HA Restart?

As part of diagnosing a recent PSOD on an ESXi host, I needed to report which VMs were on the failed host and restarted by HA. While log files are always the best bet for full insight into this scenario, I used a quick change in one of the default views in the vSphere Client to generate the list of affected VMs. Here's how:

1. Using either the VMs and Templates or the Host and Clusters view, select the HA-enabled cluster in the left pane of the vSphere Client.

2. Select the Virtual Machines tab in the right pane.

3. Right-click on any of the default column headers shown in the Virtual Machines tab, and then select the Uptime field from the context menu that appears.

4. Now sort the VMs by their Uptime value.

As always, thanks for reading!
