Replacing VirtualCenter as part of an upgrade

Hi,

I will soon be undertaking an upgrade project for a customer running VC 1.4 and ESX 2.5.4. Currently the VC server is a VM and uses Oracle XE.

First, I want to move VC to a physical server running SQL2005 but I'm not sure how to go about this. Specifically I am not sure how ESX 2.x licensing works with VC 2.5. Can I take the old license keys and import them into VC 2.5 in some way? Or, should I have two VC servers running concurrently for a while, one for the ESX 2.x servers and one for the 3.x servers ?

I'd appreciate any guidance on this.

I should point out that the movefrom Oracle to SQL2005 is not the problem - I'll be creating a brand new SQL database as part of the upgrade.
