ESX 3.5 Host Rebooted??

Hi All, I am running 2 ESX Clusters each consisting of 3 ESX 3.5 Hosts?

For some reason yesterday one of my esx host rebooted !! Does anyone know why this may of happened. Where should I start to troubleshoot!!

What hardware there? E.g. the hp servers can reboot by hw problems.

Check the /var/log/vmkernel file for any warnings/errors. Maybe you can see a warnings file in /var/log - check it.

When possible test the hardware (with management/tests tools).

Thanks will check those logs now.

The hardware is HP DL385 G5's

I don’t seem to have any events in any of those log files for yesterday !!

That could mean you had a hw problem there and hp rebooted itself.

You can check if it automatically rebooted if you are running the HP management agents on the server. Goto to https://servername:2381 from your browser and it will show you the HP Systems Management Homepage. ON there you have a section pertaining to ASR (Automated System Reboot) which will provide you will some more info if that is indeed what caused the reboot.
