I have a Virtual machine, Citrix Ps 4.5 on w2k3 server 1vCPU 2048mo... and I added a second CPU, after the first reboot everything was well, so I log into, and ask me to reboot cause the system installed the second CPU, I reboot, and the system halt at acpitabl.dat. Nothing to do, try to remove the cpu and reboot same error..
any help....??
acpi is power management. Do you have power management enabled in the BIOS of your esx host or in the os of your vm?
It could also be a problem with the hal. If you can't get your vm to boot, I would use a windows cd and boot into rescue mode, and go into the recovery console. From there, you should be able to run fixboot and reboot back into your vm.

I can't check now in the BIOS of my ESX server too many server in prod.. but in the option of my VM we have an option Power management and put it to suspend the VM. Nothing better same error
thx
Can you try to power on the vm again, and then post the vmware.log that is in the vm's folder?

Did you have a tools install running when you shut down? Make sure when you power on that you've checked to make sure the vmware tools install is cancelled, or at least says 'Install VMware tools' instead of cancel tools install.
Also, what files do you see in the vmware folder? If you see a .vswp and .nvram file, delete them (your main disk files are the vmdk and flat.vmdk so you won't lose data, just the memory when the machine went down)
Then, power off, if in suspend, and power on.

You mean, if the VMtools are installed in this machine ? if yes .. Yes there are..
and where can I find the option "checked to make sure the vmware tools install is cancelled"
I want to be sure to complete the first think before I delete the nvram file thats ok ?
From VI/VC, if you right click on the VM from the inventory (left pane) you will have the option to install/cancel vmtools install.
Sounds to me that you are having a HAL issue with switching between UP and SMP mode in Win2003.
Have a look this thread, I think it will help you resolve your issues.
