I was going to say I have a non-working console also, but I am not so sure now. I think my console works with a resolution of 1x1

I have noticed that at the top center of my console is a single pixel, this is the same if I start with, or without, VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK=yes.

Also I get no errors reported in any logs or back on the console when trying to access the console.

The console works perfectly when accessed from IE or firefox on Windows. Note that I can only use root when access the console, if I use one of the other users I get access denied.

I have tried connecting to localhost, but that also makes no difference

My server is  Linux fileserver #1 SMP 2007/11/19 15:02:58 UTC x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux, as reported by uname -a and firefox is

I can work around this problem by using Windows for all console access, ssh over  X Term for all linux access and rdesktop for all windows access.

My conclusion is that this is a Linux specific problem, and possibly a 64 bit Linux problem.

Its not working for me either. Fedora 8, firefox I just get a black screen when i click on the console tab. Here's the firefox barf:

          # VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK=yes /opt/firefox/firefox

          VMRC:GetPluginComponentPath: found plugin file: /root/.mozilla/firefox/0jh06f4e.default/extensions/VMwareVMRC@vmware.com/plugins/np-vmware-vmrc-2.0.0-63231.so

I've got a FC1 box and it works if I run firefox from /opt/firefox with  VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK but that means that I have to use another computer to run the console.... not zesty

Have a look at my write up on how-to install the mks plugin in fedora. It also includes tips on what you can do in order to identify and find issues like missing dependencies even if you are using a different distro / version.

This was tested with fedora 8, but with similar steps it also worked under ubuntu.

I had the same error on SLED10. The solution appears to be to  create symbolic link from bin directory to the lib:

              #:mkdir libdir

              #:cd libdir

              #:ln -s /home/arek/.mozilla/firefox/xo1zrhna.default/extensions/VMwareVMRC\@vmware.com/plugins/vmware-vmrc-2.0.0-63231/lib lib

It works then on the firtst console but then when you try to switch to another virtual machine, the following error apears (see attached image)
