I bought VM Fusion so I could run ACT for workgroups on my mac. I need to beable to sync in over the web and on a local worelss net work. (I am not very knowledgeable with computers. I know just enough to get myself in trouble. I installed Fusion and it seems to be running fine. I installed ACT and it seems to run fine. When I treid to locate another computer I cannot fine see it in network connections or any other network related screen. If I go to the other computer (PC) the is also connected to the dsl I cannot see my mac. I have windows file sharing checked in the mac sharing section. Any help would be welcomed.
Thanks
You wanted to post this in the Fusion subforum (mods, can this thread be moved?)
Are you using NAT or bridged networking (under Virtual Machine > Network)? If you're not using bridged, try that. You may have to restart the guest to get a new DHCP lease (this isn't the only way, but it's the easiest to describe).
Thanks for the reply but you are way beyond what I know.
I have a Mac Book Pro (2 gig so I guess that is 1 gig for XP and 1 gig for Mac) running fusion and XP home edition and a Pentium 4 3.20 Ghz with a 1 GB of ram also running XP home edition. The PC is wired directly to a 2Wire (brand) wireless home portal (for Home DLS). The Mac is connected with WiFi to thew same portal. If I go to :"my network places" or Network connections I though I should be able to see the other machine but I can not. I have Share window files checked off on my Mac System preferences and I ran the network wizard but it made no difference. I have tried it with the firewall up or down with the same results. Does that help you at all?
Thanks
Jay

Maybe it is me but I do not see anything labeled "VMware Fusion forum". Please provide link.
Thanks. I have still not resolved problem. Until it is resolved the program is of no use to me I bought it solely to run ACT on my mac laptop.
Thanks
Jay
It's here - http://communities.vmware.com/community/vmtn/desktop/fusion. When you open the link you'll see an option to Search Community (right hand top corner) - you may find a similar thread that answers your question.
Thanks, I found the problem. It was set for NAT and I changed it to Bridged.
Hello etung, I have my network settings to bridged, and I can see the host Mac, but cannot see any other computers (Mac or PC) on the network. any thoughts?
