MicroSoft has released a public beta of Hyper-V as reported by the Register less delayed that expected ( so a bit of a result of them then )
It can be downloaded here for those of you brave enough, or those who want a bit of Xmas cheer to liven up the last few days before the break

Tom,
its a disapppointment. It doesnt have vmotion, HA and DRS. Its just like Virtual PC embedded in windows operating system
It is a disappointment indeed but for the sake of the discussion they do have HA (under the form of MSCS at the parent partition level). This is not less enterprise than what VMware has with HA (assuming we can claim VMware HA to be enterprise grade.... but this is another story....). They do not have however a cluster file system ala VMFS .... and this will impact the flexibility of designing a proper / flexible vm-to-storage layout.
Massimo.
I thought MS bought out Virtuozza in order to HAVE these abilities?
Did they buy them? I thought it was "only" a strategic partnership ....... (for which they would embed part of the Virtuozzo technology into Windows - out of the box).
However that would be a different level of virtualization (Virtuozzo=OS virtualization, ESX/Hyper-V=HW virtualization).
