Looks like an old friend is back in 3.5

The infamous auto-startup bug when restarting mgmt-vmware that was patched in 3.0.1 and fixed in 3.0.2 is back in 3.5. So beware when restarting mgmt-vmware if you use auto-startups or all your VM's will power down!

Restarting Hostd (mgmt-vmware) on ESX Server hosts restarts Hosted Virtual Machines where VM Auto Startup/Shutdown is enabled - http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1003312

Thanks for the heads up! That's disappointing it is not fixed.

Its listed in the readme in the known issues section.

Jesus, you'd think if they were going to re-use Code for 3.5, they use the correct version of the code....

Actually, I am having trouble on a couple of my hosts, after an upgrade to 3.5 (vs installing a fresh version) and those hosts, I have Auto-start configured, and they don't seem to restart.

It seems to be selective however, some will, maybe it has something to do with version of the tools (the newer tools stay put, the previous tools versions seem to restart...), so maybe that's the culprit.

It's pretty sad that such an ugly problem is rearing it's ugly head again, if that is the case. They definately seem to have re-written the entire Server, but apparently didn't document the issues that we had before.

Maybe they were developing the code on a VM with a snapshot... they forgot the commit!

In any case, your wording was hysterical.. good for a laugh...
