VI3 v3.5: Software iSCSI with TCP offload

Does VI3 v3.5 support iSCSI TCP offload (TOE cards)? Our environment is going to be segregated by Layer 2 VLANS and we are striving not to "Over Subscribe" the ESX hosts, but I wanted to make sure that we have the best Host Server configuration for iSCSI. We are going to be using an EMC CX30.

Thnx,

Ted

the only way to offload TCP for iSCSI traffic is to use supported hardware iSCSI cards. TOE NICs are not supported, or at least not their TOE functionality. ESX does TCP segmentation offloading if possible, but not TOE.

Is there a list of supported hardware iSCSI cards anywhere? The HCL for Network Cards doesn't indicate whether extra functions are supported for a given card, just whether the card is supported or not.

You can find a list of supported iSCSI Hardware Initiators in the following document: .

Page 15 from IBM and Page 20 from QLogic.
