I've passed today to ... Woohooo Smiley Wink

I concur with reading and re-reading the PDFs, without reading them you'll miss some questions.

And for a non-English speaking (native), you'll get extra time, use it, as sometimes the questions can be a bit "strange" (structure).

I was able to achieve score of 91 by just reading VMware Infrastructure 3 set of PDF's once and then going again through all these documents.

I guarantee you don't need absolutely anything else.

- Introduction to VMware Infrastructure

- Configuration Maximums for VMware Infrastructure 3

- Quick Start Guide

- Installation and Upgrade Guide

- Basic System Administration

- Virtual Infrastructure Web Access Administrator's Guide

- Server Configuration Guide

- Resource Management Guide

- SAN Configuration Guide

- Virtual Machine Backup Guide

- Setup for Microsoft Cluster Service

One thing to know (I believe quite important) is that to a greater extend the exam is based on asking questions that are exact phrases taken from the PDF's. Which is kinda lame...

I past today with an 88%.

You guys in the 90s must be smart cookies. I busted my butt to get that 88.

I am just thrilled that I am done. How long does it take to get the paperwork from VMWare?

Thanks,

Brian

Passed the exam today. Pretty excited, but...

Since I didn't take any course, I won't be a VCP. However, I have been working as a VMware administrator in enterprise production servers for more than a year. This year I had a chance to go to a VMware class, but I chose to go to a NetApp class since I felt the lack of SAN knowledge. I know there are still a lot I need to learn about VMware, but I feel kind of lack of motivation to go to a VMware's "Install and Config" class. I think tarrysingh's idea is very good. In this way, people would have more motivation going deeper. Or, just me feeling like that?

I did achieve 91 after two months of hard work pretty much every day, so I don't really think it's about being smart it's about being dedicated.

When I went to the VMware's "Install and Config" class I thought I know most of the material, and that was actually the case (because as I mentioned in previous post I read all these PDF docs), so I agree the course is not exiting especially if you already have at least six months of VI3 experience as you do...

The only motivation is that you can put one more title right beside your name, which might or might not have an impact on your career.

One more VCP!

3 days reading PDF's and the student manual to get a score of 89.

Add me to the list as well: I passed the VCP310 exam today with a 81%. I am also a VCP on ESX 2.x and VC 1.x and I thought that this exam was a little tougher than the previous one.

Any word on how long it will take to receive the welcome kit?

I would like to know whether it is possible ( I mean legally ) to sit for the exam without attending any course. I have enough experience and knowledge in VI3 to pass the exam.

You can but you won't officially gain VCP after that....so no welcome kit :smileyshocked:

I had taken the VI3 course last May ( 2007) ... is there still time or is it it worth it to try for the VI3 cert? Or will the release of 3.5 kill that and I need to attend yet another VMware training to qualify?

Word is there is a higher VM Cert in the works. VCSA or something. Sys Architect. A VM Partner here in St. Louis is working with them to create the test along with some of the other partners...
