Howdy,
Just starting to put together an upgrade plan for my test environment. I'm reviewing the VI Compatibility Matrix on pg.4 under "DB Compatibility for VC and Update Manager" the only SQL 2005 versions it lists are the Enterprise versions and not the Standard versions. I'm currently running VC 2.0.2 u2 on SQL 2005 SP2 Standard. Is this a typo or is Stanrdard not supported anymore?
thanks
i opened a case with vmware and here is their response....
Yes you are correct that only SQL Server 2005 Enterprise version is supported.
I do not know why SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition is not on the list.
I will file a feature request to have it added.
I realize there is a significant price difference between the two versions.
It could simply be that SQL 2005 Standard has not gone through proper testing before the product was released.
I do believe it should work though.
We can only provide "best effort" support for that product at this time.
just receivd an email from vmware that is telling me SQL 2k5 Standard is now supported. look for the compatibility matrix to be updated soon.
