MS Clustering and SCSI bus sharing

We have set up MS clustering across 2 ESX servers according to the VMware documentation and everything seems to be working fine. The one thing we cannot do, however, is take snapshots of the VMs because the SCSI bus sharing is set to physical on the SCSI controller that the RDM drives are using. I therefore decided to experiment and set the SCSI bus sharing to none, and it all seems to be working still. Only one server can access the RDM disks at one time and the resources fail over perfectly. The cluster resources are all NTFS LUNS.

Are there any dangers continuing with SCSI bus sharing set to 'None' or will it be ok?

Also I have installed the ESX patch ESX-1002088 which states that it enables snapshots with RDM disks attached. I still cannot take snapshots with RDM disks attached that are connected to a SCSI controller with bus sharing enabled. Is this right?

Many thanks.

Mark

Marl,

I am in a similar situation and would like to change from scsi sharing "physical to none" for mscs clusters. But in doing so file lock error comes up while botting the second node. Can you please explain how where you able to make MSCS work with scsi bus sharing set to "none".

Thanks
