ESX & DS3400 direct connect?

Hi,

IBM's DS3400 is supported under the storage compatibility guide. However I am told I can not connect the DS3400 to my server directly. I need a SAN switch in between the server and DS3400 otherwise VMware will not support.

Has anyone connect the DS3400 directly to their server via fibre channel? And does it work?

I find it so stupid that I have to use a SAN switch to connect 2 hosts to a DS3400.

Hi Alan,

We connect the DS3400 directly from 2x of our x3650 hosts using Emulex HBA without using a SAN switch.

Environment is running vSphere 5.5
