I've had a quick look through the forum for a thread on games that have been verified to work ( or not ) with Beta 2 ( apart from the ones mentioned in the readme ), but couldn't find anything ( apart from a couple reporting problems ). I thought it might be useful for the VMware guys, if all game related posts were in one thread.
I'll kick off, these are all on a CoreDuo MacBook with 2GB RAM:
Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 + Waky Worlds Exp Pack - According to the back of the box, requires DX8.1; apart from stuttering music, works brilliantly ( there's even a screen res of 1024x704 which fits nicely in a window on my MacBook ).
Yep.
No go.
It's probably a moot point as far as FFXI goes, because the Japanese developers have stated that the Windows client is going to DX9, probably around the time that Wings of the Goddess goes live. That may or may not be a requirement of the windowed mode support that is going into the client.
Time to start banging the drum for DX9 support in Fusion.
Just tried Trilby's Notes, same mouse problem even though that game DEFINITELY doesn't use DirectX. what the hell is causing the mouse problem?
This board is helpful and contains lots of data. How about a moderator summarizing the results in a sticky? Perhaps in table for so that the game is listed on the left (with version number perhaps) and a how-to or a link to a how-to on how it was made to run on the right?
I have a MacBook Pro with 2GB ram (you know, the most recent with the great memory card ). I bought fusion at beta stage PARTLY due to the video posted everywhere showing 3d acceleration within fusion.
Perhaps that was...premature. I can't get GW to run in Fusion 1.0 51348 evern with the -dx8 modifier.
Since people don't post unless they are having a problem or are posting a solution (generally), I think the table form would be great...even if the link was to a how-to within this thread.
Thanks...
Yes, please use Eric's document for this -- as all the information in this thread is for Fusion 1.0, and we've made some real improvements for 1.1, if people start posting their experiences with 1.1 in this thread it will get very confusing very quickly, I'm afraid!
I am locking this thread so we can use Eric's new thread to track this moving forward.
