v1.1b DirectX 9 graphics - post your results here

Has anyone tested out any games yet with the new DirectX 9 experimental support? Post your results here -

Elder Scrolls III : Morrowind - loads and runs with choppy sound, displays turns black when you enter first building.

Resident Evil 4 : loads and runs with graphic corruption (pretty much unplayable)

Hundred Swords : loads and runs like a charm

tested on a 20" C2D iMac (late 2006), Radeon x1600 256mb, Windows XP Pro SP2

Does this support Aero in Vista?

I'll assume no since there is no shader support.

What version of DX 9.0 specifically?

Thanks!

Aero requires DX 9.0L and shader support

Fusion supports DX 9.0 without shaders

Fusion doesn't support any graphics acceleration in Vista VMs in any case

so no Aero, yet.

FFXI doesn't crash fusion any more.

Textures are too messed up to run the game though, but it's getting better.

Guild Wars changes resolution and then crashes VMWare Fusion 1.1b. It works, with significant graphical issues, when passing it the flag to force use of DirectX 8.

This is a great thread to start. One thing that would be helpful for us to know at VMware for each post:

1) Mac used

2) Graphics card in the Mac

3) Guest OS and version (XP SP2, ...)

My Guild Wars experience was on a Mac Pro with a Radeon X1900, running the most recent Leopard seed. The guest operating system was XP SP2.

It might also be good to turn this into a open document with formatting similar to the following:

Application (Version)

Mac type (graphics card)

Notes

Possibly sorted into Working/Working with Issues/Not Working tables

As an open document, everyone could edit it and it'd be easier to glance over instead of reading through a bunch of messages.

I don't see an option to enable DX9 in settings. All it has is DX8. An XNA game will compile but not run. "No suitable device found". Maybe because I don't have DX9 enabled?

The explanatory text got overlooked; experimental 3D support is for DX9. You need to update Tools, of course.

Sims Life Stories still doesn't work - same problem as before, red glowing walls. The game actually works quite well, except for this one graphic glitch, but it's a big glitch.

It'd be nice if we could all put information into one document:

CITY OF HEROES and CITY OF VILLIANS still crash with refs to vid card errors on Intel iMac. We wait and hope.
