I have got nearly the same problem; I try to clone the Windows 2000 Server Standard w/ Citrix Metaframe XPe installed and got the same result. I have got the drive letter re-direction enabled.

Citrix uses more com ports then a VM has, try the following:

1.On the source host, open regedit.

             2.Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\SERIALCOMM.

3.Export the key for backup-archive-restore purposes.

             4.Delete CcmPort3 through CcmPort9.

             5.Retry the migration.

            theanykey,

Based on the output of Converter (first post), it appears that the COM ports were dropped automatically during the creation of the VM in ESX, but perhaps there is a problem with that process.  My schedule is pretty limited this week, but hopefully I will be able to test the Cold Boot CD and the manual COM port removal early next week.

              michaeltsa,

Have you tried importing a non-citrix server yet, or a Citrix server without the remapped drives?  Just curious as to whether or not you have had success with other servers.

I am using ESX 3.0.1 Build 32039, Converter 3.0.1 Build 44840, VC 2.0.1 Build 33643. I have looked through all the logs on all my storage, all my ESX hosts, and nothing indicated any kind of drive issues, and our switch isn't reporting a lot of dropped packets. It just fails for no apparent reason.

                  >> Log for VMware Converter Client, pid=2512, version=3.0.1, build=build-44840, option=Release, section=1

Keep in mind that 99% of useful information is discovered in the agent logs (vmware-converter#.log) and not  the client logs.

Here is the failing section of the agent log.  It appears that the job fails about half way down in this log section starting with the "Number of target volumes does not match target storage layout" error.  Prior to this the VM appeared to get created successfully, and is now trying to clone the disks.

This is an error generated when there is a diagnostic partition.  Are you sure you are using converter 3.0.1?  If so, make certain you are unselecting the diagnostic/utility (small 30-50mb) partition.

I can importing around 10 Windows 2003 servers sucessfully; but not the Windows 2000 Citrix server I wanted; the Citrix servers haven't got remapped drives as default.

Have you tried using root to login and perform the conversion?  Worked a lot better for me....
