Also I have to say DirectX 9 in 1.x please.
1. Snapshot Manager (+ clones)
2. Networking manager
3. Maybe Vmware Console for MacOS (so I can manage my Vmware servers)
I understand that Fusion is not Workstation for MacOS (as mentioned previously), BUT that doesn't stop me from wishing for workstation for it.
MMM...maybe a Basic and an Advanced GUI mode would work later down the road. So that for novices its easy to use "Fusion" mode (default), but the adv user can switch to "workstation" mode for the heavy lifting. I can also see many "fusion" only features that would be very useful in wrkstn for Linux/windows as well as vice versa - then we don't have 2 or more product streams - just vmware for workstations with 2 diff modes(?)
As you can see I really, really want to get rid of my Windows box and still be able to test/dev Windows apps

Thanks for your feedback. Just so you know, the
devices one is already implemented.
Devices Menu to connect CD-ROM Images / Disconnect
CD
Drive, USB Devices, etc. Make it a menu so it can
be
used within Unity.
If you go to the VMware Fusion Virtual Machine menu,
you can connect/disconnect CD images and USB devices
today when in Unity mode. The devices are the last
items in the Virtual Machines menu.

I must be going mad, as I cannot see any CD or USB devices in the Virtual Machine menu.

What version of Mac OS are you running? If you quit and restart Fusion does it help?

I'm running Leopard 9A466 (WWDC '07 Build) And there is no list of CDs or USB devices under the Virtual Machine menu and annoyingly it tries to reconnect all USB devices that were previously connected to the machine which is also something I don't like.
Plus it only automatically connects the USB Device to the VM is VMware is in Single-Window View and has focus, would be nice if it connects it, if it's in Unity View and has focus!
Can I just say how fantastic it is that etung and Pat Lee (and I assume other VMware staff) browse these threads and forums? Such fantastic customer support is the primary reason why I switched from Parallels, and this thread is a great example of this.
One feature that I have not yet seen mentioned is a mechanism to (at runtime) hard-lock the mouse to the VM. In the release notes it gives instructions for modifying the vm config files so that the mouse behaves properly in a full-screen game environment, but this is a bit of a pain for me to always change these settings back and forth -- I primarily use Fusion for software development, and I like the way the mouse normally behaves. It's just that at the end of the day when I want to kick back and play some games, it's a pain to have to modify my config files just to do so -- it's easier (though still inconvenient) just to bootcamp it. So while there may be other ways to fix this usability issue, I can think of two solutions that I would be happy with:
1) Expose more config file options in the menu, so that I don't have to edit a configuration file manually. It would be acceptable (though not ideal) for me to stop the VM, edit the config options in the menu, then restart the VM.
OR
2) Create a menu option to dynamically set the mouse options as specified in the release notes (vmmouse.present and pref.motionUngrab), without rebooting the VM. This option is the much preferred solution. Interestingly, this feature is actually what I originally thought was meant by the release comment in the RC1 notes, when it said Command-G does a "force grab" to the guest -- sadly, this was not the case.
So yeah, it's a minor feature, but it would get around a usability hurdle I've been up against since starting to use Fusion.
Thanks again! Keep up the great work -- I'm an extremely happy customer, and I'm much happier for having bought this product.
Respectfully,
clint
Some things definitely need fixing before 1.0:
1.) The highest resolution is 2360 x 1770 which does not support the full screen of a 30" Apple Cinema display
2.) Resume sometimes fails
3.) If you drag an application running in Unity mode to a second monitor, the image of the application's window does not display correctly. If you switch to "Single Window" mode, move the Single Window to the second monitor and then switch to Unity mode then it works as a work around
4.) When you start an application from the doc in Unity mode, the VM does not display and it does not list under the "Windows" menu. In essence, it runs headless.
5.) Sometimes the Applications do not appear in the Applications menu
6.) Running a VMWare Virtual Machine and a Parallels Desktop 3.0 VM at the same time can cause the Mac OS X to lock up or VMWare to lock up
7.) The dock menu items (such as quit) do not yet work in Unity mode. There's quite a bit of work to do to make Unity mode work smoothly with the Mac Dock
8.) Under Preferences, there should be an option to prevent the Virtual Machine library window from automatically loading. Starting it up manually is my preference since I usually open Virtual Machine using aliases
9.) Allowing VMWare Fusion to modify a hard disk at least to VMWare Server's level would be nice. I guess they won't give you every thing that VMWare Workstation has.
There's plenty of features I'd like to see in 1.1 and beyond:
1.) Cater to developer's more. Developer's are one of the biggest group of mi graters to the Mac. Having a product with the same capabilities as VMWare Workstation's debugging capabilities would be nice (a dream I know, but if we developer's make enough noise and buy enough products we can make this happen). The Mac Book Pro with 4GB of RAM is a great machine for multi platform development and testing since you can run Windows and Linux natively or within a virtual machine. It would be nice to have the integrated debugging capabilities directly from the Mac instead of running Boot Camp.
2.) Many more features...enough for now
The highest resolution is 2360 x 1770 which does not support the full screen of a 30" Apple Cinema display
This can be worked around by setting the max height and width in the vmx file - no idea why this doesn't work by default, though.
Running a VMWare Virtual Machine and a Parallels Desktop 3.0 VM at the same time can cause the Mac OS X to lock up or VMWare to lock up
All the reports I've heard of for this have been Parallel's fault, see Parallels or Fusion crashing my MBP?

Are you really asking for Workstation (not a bad thing, I'm just trying to figure out what you want)?
One small thing. I only use 1 VM. It would be nice to
have an option for the Virtual Machine Library window
to disappear after The VM is booted so as to reduce
screen clutter.
This would be nice. Especially since I am runnig Vista on a seperate monitor entirely and I have to close the VM Library screen everytime.
Maybe I don't know how to do it, but I'd really like the apple key to act as the windows key in Fusion when in Unity mode. It works fine in Full Screen and Single Window mode, but not in Unity. If it could work like Parallels where the start menu will just pop up when I hit the apple key that would be perfect!! I much rather launch applications this way then using the Launch Menu because it gets very annoying. Please, Please, Please add this feature if possible. Its killing me not having this.
Also why does every release the USB icons get removed? I don't even have USB icons on the bottom status bar anymore. It would be nice to be able to control devices like CD, networking, and USB devices through the menubar like Parallels. Its a little easier then opening the settings menu everytime I want to change attach a USB device. Thanks VMware!
Ditto. All I really need now is for VMware Tools to
actually be installable within Solaris
Express/OpenSolaris, Solaris Express Developer
Edition, OpenBSD 4.x, and FreeBSD 6.x so that I can
utilize the shared path with the native OS X host.
Presently all attempts to install VMware Tools in the
above OSs fails.
Really? I'm currently running DE 05/07, serving files via ftp from the /hgfs partition. What does it fail with? Be interested in knowing. There was a period of time when I was unable to install the tools into the first release of DE ( I think there's a thread on here somewhere ), though I think it may have been something to do with my setup. I have two NIC's in the VM, one NAT'd, the other host only. I think it may have been due to DHCP and the host only NIC ( I ended up giving the host-only NIC a static IP ). When I upgraded the tools for RC1, they installed with no problems.
As I've mentioned in another thread, I'd like a friendlier way of running headless VM's. Having to Force Quit the GUI just doesn't seem natural Unless this is a feature ear-marked for WS For OSX? In that case, sign me up!
I'd also like a way to have VM's launched upon login without having to resort to scripting, though as that seems to be a feature currently reserved for VMware Server....
In the long run, I hope to see WS and Server for OSX. I'd have a use for both of them.
I would like an option to disable drop shadows in Unity, for those who are annoyed by the graphical glitches that the feature causes on tooltips and application menus (which are windows as well in Microsoft world).
Other than that, the product works like a charm!
I don't even have USB icons on the bottom
status bar anymore.
They're still there for me. What version of OS X are you running?
Etung: Oh really! I'm glad to know that! I am using Leopard so I am guessing that's why I am not seeing the Icons anymore. I'm guessing release version will have these icons back for leopard?
Yes, there's a known issue with the device icons and Leopard. Leopard support is experimental (it's not officially released), so I doubt it's high priority to fix right now.

Pat mentioned sometime earlier that because Fusion will be released earlier than Leopard, support for it will stay experimental throughout version 1.0 of Fusion....in other words...your doubts are correct...
Ciao, Andreas
No big deal. The fact that I've been able to use Fusion with Leopard with no problems what so ever is good enough for me. I've been using it in a work environment for a few weeks now and It's been rock solid, much better then my Parallels installation. Now when Unity is smoothed out a little better then everything will be perfect! Looking forward to the GA!!
My most important request would be dual-monitor support for Unity..
Also I have to say DirectX 9 in 1.x please.
I second this -- is there a way we can get at-least basic XNA apps up and running?
the only thing i would like to have is an option to remove Windows apps (like excel, word, paint...) icons from OSX dock
