Hi:
I use WS6.0 and both host and guest OS are win XP. There are two NIC on host , one is wireless , the other is not.
I try to let my guest OS bridge to the wireless NIC. But I found from previous post that the nic should support Promiscuous Mode. The question is how do I check that?
I try to use "netsh birdge show adapter" but nothing showed up. I also downloaded a software called " PromiscDetect", but it only tells me that the active filter for the adapter. I cannot find the answer from the manufacturer's website either. Any suggestions?
PS: my wireless card is Intel PRO/wireless 3945 ABG.
Thanks.
I looked here:
http://www.micro-logix.com/WinPcap/Supported.asp
It has some user reports of this card not working, and maybe some mitigations.

But I found from previous post that the nic should support Promiscuous Mode
This information is wrong, the "Wireless" physical network adapter does not have to support Promiscuous Mode to work in a Bridged virtual network configuration.
Make sure that you are Bridged to the correct physical network adapter in the host. Select "Edit" -> " Virtual Network Settings"
Uncheck "Automatically choose an available physical network adapter to bridge to vmnet0" This is located on the "Automatic Bridge" tab
Select the "Host Virtual Network Mapping" tab and select the physical network adapter that you want to bridge to vmnet0 in the dropdown menu for vmnet0
How is your host connected to the local network / internet? (Cable modem, DSL, Router, Switch...etc)
Post the output from " ipconfig /all " from both the host and guest OS.
Post the .vmx file from the virtual machine
support Promiscuous Mode
The song "Promiscous" is pretty good, but I wouldnt hit Nelly Furtado because she is a mother!
Hi :
I have already changed the virtual network settings to bridge to the wireless card. I have two NIC on the guest also. One is in bridged mode and the other is in host-only mode.
The output of ipconfig /all on host is this:

crtPrc.dll: Removed CreateProcess() (result=0).
PS: the network for the host-only is 192.168.35. xxx
BTW: I also noticed that when I after the VM reverts to a snapshot, it will try to get IP again (because the snapshot is taken when using wired NIC), but it cannot get the IP. Then I tried to reboot (both guest OS and host), but it remains the same.
Thanks.

BTW: I am in a university. When I try to use wireless network, it will redirect my home web page to a login page first. Is there anything to do with bridged network?
I cannot see the login page in the guest OS. So I guess there is something wrong before that.
