Glow around desktop icons

Since the reinstallation of my virtual machine I am experiencing some changes regarding the representation of the desktop icons. They always appear to have a glow. See attached picture.

glow......Huh. Sounds like you are talking about the drop shadows.

-Locate My computer either on your desktop or start Menu.

-Right click -> Properties.

-Click Advanced tab.

-Visual Effects.

\- Either just select the radio button that says Best appearance or scroll the list and select "Use drop shadows on icons."

Yeah, it's a blue glow now instead of shadows. You are totally right.
