    VMware tool on Linux

    lzd212 Novice

Hi, I've Linux guest OS (Open SUSE 10.2) and already install VMware tool, but seems it's not working well because when I working in the console it's prompt if the system did not have VMware tool installed. The VMware tool service has been enabled and started automatically.

      Please advice.

      Regards,

In Linux guests, VMware Tools mainly works with X Windows, not with a text-based console.  There are certain services that it provides in the background, whether you're using X or not (like time synchronization and network acceleration), but the clipboard support and mouse support are only for X Windows.

I'm a newbie with Linux (just learning) that's why I'm not using a text mode and use the GUI mode, it's mean I'm using the Xwindow right?

Any specific setting must be applied?

            Please advice.
