Workstation/Player conflicts

At Workstation 5.x one could not have both VMWare player and a licensed copy of VMWorkstation on the same machine. A lot of times we will create a Linux environment (for example) and use it for training labs, etc. and it would be nice to know that what we created runs on player as well.

Has this been addressed with version 6.0...i.e. can you have workstation and player on the same machine? Or am I missing something here?

Thanks.

No problems with that scenario here. Player actually got updated with the WS6 install.

Hi vmNewb35,

Both VMware Workstation 5 and Workstation 6 comes bundled with VMware Player. With WS 5 it was Player 1.x, with WS 6, it is Player 2.0

There is a standalone version of VMware Player that can be downloaded, and this version can NOT not co-exist with WS.

ahh...that makes sense because I have been downloading this from the web. I will check out the bundled version that can co-exist. Thx.
