Fusion, Increasing Memory

okay i just installed fusion and got it running, everything works great, i have windows all updated and stuff. but now i need to increase the amount of space given to the microsoft OS. i have an apple laptop with a ton of space but i only gave the microsoft os 6gb because i assumed i could change it later, but of course i have read around the forums and don't understand a word dispite my programming knowledge haha.

Short answer: Wait for an upcoming beta update to possibly give you a tool called vmware-vdiskmanager.

Or resist giving the virus, cough, Windows OS any more disk space. Uninstall something else!!

i would but the one application i am wanting to use is the only thing on it XD i am attempting to run guild wars and i am down to half a gb, luckily it is fully installed but i was just wondering if it was an easy fix to add some more space.

If you're not too invested in the OS. Throw away the VM and re-install Windows with a 100 GB dynamically-expanding disk. That's another option -- seems easy to me!

no i love mac os but i really want to play guild wars haha, evidentally directx 8 doesn't seem to work on it, anybody know a way to get around it?

Sorry, DirectX 8 support in Fusion is only available publicly on YouTube today.

BTW, I didn't imply to use Boot Camp, I meant to throw way your current Fusion Windows VM and re-create it. You can also add a second, large virtual hard disk to your existing VM, which is not easy but possible.

i took a look at the video and i don't have those setting options, the settings>display>stuff

was the video done with modifications or is it a future product? i am kind of confused being brand new to this whole product

OK sorry to joke at your expense....there's no DirectX support in Fusion Build 36932, the current public beta. That video on YouTube was leaked. There is no release date published for that version of Fusion, you'll have to wait. And if that wasn't clear enough: No, you can't run DirectX-3D with Fusion Build 36932.

You can, of course run 3D in Boot Camp.

You'll have to wait for an updated Fusion beta release or run Windows on Boot Camp. Parallels claims support for 3D in version 3.0, whenever that is.

Well video-aside, there's no exact promise of 3D in the next beta. But the current beta expires on 25-05-2007. Anytime before this is the best answer for the next beta, and hopefully with 3D support.
