Parallel Port output file format

Good day,

I would like to use an output file for a virtual parallel port attached to a VM but when I browse the datastore for an output file, no matter what file type I click on, the OK button remains grayed out.

What type of file (format or extension) does the VIC or VM expect when choosing and output file for a Parallel Port.

Thanks,

Flux.

BTW, I do have a PCI parallel card installed and functioning on the ESX host I just want to test and output file and see if I can VMotion with an output file instead of a physical parallel port. Thanks again.

It seems that you'll just need to type in a new file name instead of picking one. When I pick an existing file I get an error "file with that name already exists". I tried with .txt and with no extension and both worked fine.

This looks like it. I tried this a little after I posted and got it to work.

This is what I used in VIC 2. For example, if my datastore name was Data I had to type the following into the output file text box:

\[Data]/dummyport.txt

That worked.

Thanks,

Flux.
