Hi guys,

I have been trying for the last week to convert a physical machine into virtual using the starter edition of the tool which I downloaded.

I have tried many options, of not resizing disks, resizing disks etc but each time it fails.

The physical machine I am trying to import is windows 2000 server, which I installed the software on.

My machine is a windows XP machine with the software installed.

The share is on my local hard drive which is accessible via my machines local admin account. (NO domain accounts are being used)...

I can email both the converter logs and client log for the sessions as it looks like I cannot attch files to these posts.

If someone could please shed some light onto what could be happening as we need to snapshot 5 servers for a test lan for some work we have coming up.

The log you post is not enough to tell what is wrong. I can only tell then reconfiguration fails for a reason. YOu need to post the previous 30-40 lines.

There are a number of posts on here with similar problems. After reading through many of them I found the following things help avoid the 97% error.

1. Run Converter from a system with it installed if the bootdisk won't work.

- 1.5. or from a bootdisk if another system won't work

2. Don't try to resize any of the disks.

3. Don't install any NICs until after the conversion is complete and the OS boots at least one time.

4. Point the conversion destination to an ESX host, not a VC server.

5. If there is a complaint about SCSIPORT.SYS then look for a backup version of the file in \winnt\servicepackfiles\i386

Thanks for that. Cannot go directly to ESX, as it is currently only 2.5, we cannot upgrade until our new servers get approved for purchase, then we can do the migration upgrade process.....

I am also having the same problem, fails at 97%

Tried removing the nics and replicate

re-registered vss

Not able to find any help on this..... logged a case with vmware as well, but still no proper update from them as its been 1 month now.....

Could you upload log bundle for investigation?

Specifically - post the worker and agent logs. The words 'agent' and 'worker' are part of the filenames.
