You can't do this. You can pass-thru SCSI tape drives, but not fiber.
Read up on VMware Consolidated Backup (VCB), which allows you to use a Windows 2003 Server and Fiber attached tape for LAN-free backups of VMs.
Thank you for your reply.
So i cannot connect a tape library to any of the vm servers that i will implement?
But i can connect the tape trough a SCSI? So i just connect the tape to my Blade HP BL25p and install the drivers/software on the vm server that i want to work with the tape? And then i can install my Brighstor or any other backup software?
I don't know much the VMware Consolidated Backup (VCB), and i will take a look at its manual and implementation.
But the VCB, must be install in a indenpendet server? Or we just used from our vmware server?

Not sure you can connect a tape drive to a blade with the chassis config etc.
VCB is a licensed feature and part of the Enterprise version of ESX.
It requires a seperate Physical server with windows 2003 installed to operate and mount your VMware Luns.
I am not aware of an external SCSI connection on p-class blade.

yes, independent server. No, not any of your Vmware servers (including virtual centre).
Hey you nicked the Pom's points....!
Sort of, I posted about VCB first...but you are right, you mentioned the lack of blade SCSI interfaces first.
I want my knight status!
lol i am sure dave your going to get that soon! Im not a VCP yet and ive got it.
Since i get the first answer...
I cannot split the points??
