Snapshot Support

Any chance Fusion will have snapshot support like VMware Workstation 5.5? This is a really useful feature for software testing!!!

As far as I am concerned this is a must have and a killer feature over parallels. From reading other posts it would seem the core functionality is in fusion somewhere - maybe the GUI elements are missing?

I think maybe there needs to be an "expert" mode for fusion that exposes some of the functionality that will be familiar to users of workstation on Windows and Linux but hides it for beginners who just want to run windows on their macs.

Agreed. After using Fusion for a couple of days, I see no compelling reason to recommend it over Parallels, especially given that the latter has already gained significant mindshare due to its earlier entry into the market.

Snapshots--now that's a compelling reason to go with VMware over Parallels...

I agree parallels fills all my needs too (except that the USB support is currently better in Fusion. I hope thats going to be fixed in parallels next upgrade release). I was really surprised not to see snapshots supported in Fusion. That's the one thing that would make me consider it over parallels.

On the parallels side there is Coherence which is a really nice feature. Being able to have the virtual windows free floating and able to mix in with the OS X windows on the desktop makes it very clean looking. I think VMware has to add in snapshot support as their "gimmick" otherwise Parallels will have a edge.

Indeed. I use VMware Workstation at work, and find that the snapshot feature has saved me more time than just about any feature in any other software. It is in fact the sole reason why I'd dump Parallels.

I'm very happy with Parallels right now, but I'd happily dump it for a VMware product that does snapshots. Failing that, Fusion is just another "me, too" product as far as I'm concerned.
